Explorer Belt 2021

There is already great excitement around the planned, County supported, Explorer Belt Cheshire Expedition 2021. 

The plan is take participants to a mystery destination (possibly outside Europe!!!!!) where they will start their expedition and then bring everybody home at the end of the expedition. There will be training camps and support for groups of participants who will need to design and plan their own “in-Country” expedition.

If this sounds exciting and a challenge you are interested in then the first step is to attend this information evening to meet the organising team on Monday 23rd March, 7:20 at The Heath Conference Centre in Runcorn. At this meeting we will reveal our suggested “mystery destination” You are welcome to attend on your own but we encourage Explorer Scouts to bring their parents with them. Turning up on the night is not a commitment to take part but we think you will be so excited at our plans that it will be irresistible and parents will be re-assured about our plans!

Are you a Leader aged 18-25? Then you are automatically a member of Scout Network and therefore you can join this adventure as a participant and earn your Explorer Belt.

Understanding & Supporting ADHD

This event is for all Leaders who want to learn more about ADHD and/or want to better support children with this condition through their Scouting journey.

The ADHD course will be led by Colin Foley, a specialist in this area and is structured in two sections:

1. What ADHD is and isn’t, including up-to-date research, key features, diagnostic criteria, comorbidities, executive functioning impairments, emotional disregulation and the different presentations of ADHD, including gender.
2. Strategies that would work in a scouting session – including support for executive functioning, literacy, anxiety, movement and activity and therapeutic approaches.

Mandatory Training

All Leaders are required to complete mandatory training that MUST always be in date on your Compass record. If you are unsure about what training you have completed or might need to complete then check you Compass record TODAY, if you have any difficulties accessing your Compass record contact the Scout Information Centre on 0345 300 1818

GDPR (Mandatory Training for all Leaders)
This training is completed using an online training module at the end of which you print the certificate of completion and send it to your local training manager or direct to the County Training Manager; [email protected]
Please allow 14 days for it to appear on your Compass record

• All Leaders MUST complete the Scout Safeguarding Training, irrespective of their qualifications or experience.

First Aid (Mandatory Training for all Leaders)
Attending a course completes this training and assuming you satisfactorily complete the course the County Training Manager will automatically update your Compass record.
You must renew this training every 3 years
These courses are called Module 10 – First Response) run on a regular basis in each District and you can attend any course in any District. Course dates, location and booking link (there are 13 courses between now and July) can be found at
