CuBe Briefing Day

There is a briefing day next Saturday (7th March) from 10am – 1pm at Winsford Academy for any leader or staff member where we will share up to date information about CuBe. Everybody is welcome BUT you must book a place before 5pm on Thursday (5th March).

County Conference – Feedback summary

The feedback from the County Conference held for GSL’s is stunningly good so if you missed the day, you really did miss out on a great day. Here is how the key sessions were scored by those who attended

Important things you need to know

All new adult volunteers must complete getting started training modules within 5 months

  • All Leaders requiring a woodbadge have 3 years to complete your woodbadge training
  • Your disclosure check (DBS) must be renewed every 5 years
  • Your first aid certificate must be valid at all times for all Assistant Section Leaders and above
  • Your your first response certificate must be renewed every 3years
  • You need to renew safety and safeguarding certificate every 5 years
  • Executive Committee Members have to complete training modules 01E, safeguarding, safety, GDPR

Mandatory Training

All Leaders are required to complete mandatory training every that MUSTalways be in date on your Compass record. If you are unsure about what training you have completed or might need to complete then check you Compass record TODAY, if you have any difficulties accessing your Compass record contact the Scout Information Centre on 0345 300 1818
New Leaders complete mandatory training as part of getting started and will then need as required.

Please remember that safety of young people is our priority and the mandatory training is designed to help all Leaders deliver safe programmes and activities. Would you send your child or grandchildren to an activity group where leaders had not completed mandatory training?


GDPR (Mandatory Training for all Leaders)

This training is completed using an online training module at the end of which you print the certificate of completion and send it to your local training manager or direct to the County Training Manager, Debbie Phillips; [email protected]
Please allow 14 days for it to appear on your Compass record.

Currently (as of Feb 2020) once completed there is no need to repeat this training.

Safeguarding (Mandatory Training for all Leaders)

This training is completed either by attending a course or using an online training module at the end of which you print the certificate of completion and send it to your local training manager or direct to the County Training Manager, Debbie Phillips; [email protected]
Please allow 14 days for it to appear on your Compass record.

  • If you have completed this training using the online course then at renewal you MUST attend a training course, there are no exceptions.
  • All Leaders MUST complete the Scout Safeguarding Training, irrespective of their qualifications or experience.

If you need to complete the training course for this training module they are run on a regular basis in each District and you can attend any course in any District. Course dates, location and booking link (there are 14 courses between now and July) can be found Here.

First Aid (Mandatory Training for all Leaders)

Attending a course completes this training and assuming you satisfactorily complete the course the County Training Manager will automatically update your Compass record.

These courses are called Module 10 – First Response) run on a regular basis in each District and you can attend any course in any District. Course dates, location and booking link (there are 13 courses between now and July) can be found Here.

Update this training every 3 years.
