Our Natural World
Cheshire’s next County virtual camp takes place on the weekend 25/26/27 September. This is not just another virtual camp, it’s a camp with a real purpose that reflects the concerns of many Scouts in Cheshire with a clear focus on our environment and the actions we can take to protect our natural world.

Latest Guidance

You will have heard that the Government announced a tightening of restrictions this week meaning that no more than 6 people can come together.  However after seeking clarification the following has been issued;

GUIDANCE UPDATE: As an essential sector, the youth sector is exempt from new social gathering rules.

YOUTH SECTOR remains UNCHANGED and AMBER. No additional measures are required to comply with Scouts guidance on COVID Secure! Bubbles of 15 children and 4 adults.

Risk Assessments
It is really important that Leaders start to plan face to face activities (outdoors or indoors) that a Covid Risk Assessment is written and put through the approval system. Each section should create their risk assessment, send it to their GSL who will them submit it for approval (through the smart sheet system) to their DC. If you are confused or need more support contact your DC – they are ready to help & support you.

Does anything good come from AGM’s?

Well in the case of the national AGM, (which was held virtually last weekend) the answer is YES because each year they premiere a new video to promote Scouting and this years is one of the most emotional!

Its time to get together again

In an ever changing world and as we start to consider what blended Scouting in Cheshire will look like, now is a good time for another Cheshire All Leaders conference call. This will be held on Thursday 24th September at 7pm. It will update leaders on the strategy around getting everybody back to Scouting safely, progress on some really good risk assessments, a sneak preview of our virtual camp “Our Natural World”, update on the County campsites. Plus whatever else hits us between now and then!
Please encourage all leaders to join the call. To book your place please use this link.

93 training modules validated yesterday!

The County Training Team have taken another giant leap forward launching the autumn programme of woodbadge training yesterday (Sat 12 Sept) with a new half day course complete with virtual coffee breaks. Not only that but after a programme of testing over the summer and using the “rooms facility” in Zoom they are now able to validate training modules on the same day. So yesterday 31 Leaders spent the morning in an interactive online session covering modules 12a, 12b & 19 meaning that by the time you read this 91 training modules will have been added to Compass. You can find the full list of courses on the Cheshire Scouts website. We are very close to delivering a number of “covid secure” woodbadges – watch this space!
