Science goes with a BANG

On Thursday we ran our science ideas for Leaders session that was really well received. It contained really good ideas to help deliver parts of the science badge via Zoom with water, a bottle, a piece of card, a straw and zip lock badge!

County Events

At this week’s County Executive our Trustees reviewed the programme of County events and arrived at a number of decisions;

Cheshire Hike 2021
This event will be cancelled with a plan to relaunch the hike in 2022. The decision has been taken due to the uncertainty around if we will be allowed to operate the event under Covid restrictions and in the knowledge that camping is very unlikely to be authorised in time for the hike. There was particular concern around the lack of preparation time for teams under current and expected Covid restrictions.

CuBe
This is the Beaver/Cub camp postponed from May 2020 and moved to May 2021. The view of the Executive is that this is very unlikely to take place due to restrictions around Scouts camping. To organise this event requires the County to make significant commitments to suppliers immediately after Christmas and with current uncertainties the County Executive is not prepared to risk this money. Consideration was given to pushing it towards the end of 2021 but the concern was that it would clash with other events. Moving it to 2022 is not possible because this is Chamboree year and the County Team cannot handle two large County camps.

We appreciate that these decisions will be disappointing but I hope you can appreciate the reasoning behind the decisions taken.

Cheshire Task Master #TaskTuesday

Well done to 6th Macclesfield (Parish Church) Scout Group, this week’s winners of Cheshire Scouts Task Master

Runners up were John a Scout from 2nd Poynton Scouts and a Beaver Scout from Audlem.

 This week’s Task was to balance a 20p on a lemon floating in a bowl of water #TaskTuesday #CheshireTasking
