Growth in Numbers

Just before Christmas Cheshire received its latest “mini-fig” to celebrate another year of growth during 2019. Like many things the dispatch was delayed this year but its arrival prompted positive thoughts of over 17 years of continued growth in membership numbers across Cheshire.

Census 2021

We are now days away from completing the census return (31 January 2021) and all GSL’s should have received their access codes to complete their Group return. There is no denying that 2020 has been really challenging but Cheshire has many very well-resourced Groups & Districts. There is also “light at the end of the tunnel” with realistic expectations that as this year unfolds, we will return to face-to-face Scouting.

We need to remember that Scouting is a MEMBERSHIP organisation, it is not “pay as you go” and like all similar organisations we rely on membership fees to sustain the critical infrastructure to support delivery of Scouting at a local level. This includes the insurance cover for all our activities and under reporting membership numbers could put your cover later in the year under review.

If any Leader has concerns about completing the census they should speak to their DC.

County Commissioner Handover

There will be a short virtual handover ceremony from the current County Commissioner Graham Phillips, to the new CC (Dave Hopley) on Sunday 31st January at 2pm. It is expected to last about 30 minutes.
