Cheshire Scouts Newsletter

WOW! – what a fantastic week to be part of Scouting in Cheshire! With our Scout Promise remaking on St Georges Day, the amazing “Clap for Carers” in uniform on Thursday plus the efforts of Cheshire Scouts to support the “Hike to the Moon” launched by Bear Grylls & Tim Peake. Not to forget the amazing number of nights being clocked up by those Camping at Home, with the pictures and video clips that continue to dominate our social media channels. Well done everybody!

Virtual CuBe #VirtualCuBe2020

Next weekend (1-3 May) should have been CuBe camp at the County Showground with around 2,000 Beavers & Cubs supported by around 450 Leaders. The exciting news is that it has now been transformed into a virtual event that everybody can be part of.
Whilst the Big Sleep Our for #CampAtHome is Thursday 30 April, we’d like Cheshire Scouts to keep going for the weekend of 1-3 May 🙂

Food
First thing first – we sort out our menu for the weekend. So if you want to really get into the spirit on CuBe 2020 below is a link to a full camp weekend that you cook at home (don’t forget to send us your pictures #VirtualCuBe2020) and we are sure some people will come up with amazing presentations of their food, some might even fall into the category of “posh nosh”!
Click here for the Camp Menu.

Live events
Over the weekend there will be a number of live events streamed on our social media channels so put them into your diary now.

Friday 1st May (7pm)
Opening ceremony lasting about 20 minutes with the official opening of CuBe by the County Commissioner and the first of the weekend challenges launched.
This event will last about 15 minutes. Tune in on YouTube, Facebook live and InstagramTV.

Saturday 2nd May (7pm)
Camp fire. Get the whole family together for some traditional Scout fun plus a sing-along to camp fire songs. This event will last about 30 minutes. Tune in on YouTube, Facebook live and InstagramTV.

Sunday 3rd May (4pm)
CuBe goes mad with Bang out a Beat. Get your pan lids and buckets ready to join the whole County creating a unique musical occasion, as everybody is encouraged to join us live to bang out a beat to a Lion king song. Just to make this work there will be two training videos released on Tuesday at 11am and Thursday 11am on YouTube, Facebook live and InstagramTV. So you can practice (we can’t wait to see your videos!) #VirtualCube2020

Activities
A series of activities have been developed to reflect some of the activity zones that will be on CuBe when we host the event next year (hopefully). They’ll be released on our VirtualCuBe webpage…Discover More

North West Region Virtual Scavenger Hunt and ShelterBox nwscoutsglobal.org.uk

The North West Region would like as many of you that can, to make a short video stating why you think your members should to take the opportunity to support the Virtual Scavenger Hunt and ShelterBox, and perhaps tell us something about their involvement and support in the past, maybe something about how important it is for us to keep providing Scouting opportunities for our members to join in with in these unusual times. Lastly a reminder of the importance that Scouting continues even though we can’t meet face to face.
If as many of you as are willing could do this, and make the video available to Graham Shaw ACC International, ideally by Wednesday 29th April, that would be fantastic.
