Inspirational
Cheshire Scouting is at the forefront of improving the life skills and employment opportunities of our members.

As part of this work we actively engage with the Pledge that creates links with local employers highlighting to the wider community the employability skills that our young people gain from being part of Cheshire Scouting.

The Pledge is an initiative that promotes employer led engagements with secondary schools, colleges and youth groups in Cheshire to improve career opportunities and delivery plans improving the communication, knowledge and experiences for young people.

Listen to how Sam Smith from Macclesfield believes Scouting helped in achieve his dream job working for Bentley Motors in Crewe. It underlines the impact every Leader in Cheshire can have on their Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & Explorer Scouts.

Grants

If your Group own their own HQ then you are probably eligible for a top up grant from your local authority. You need to get your claim in before 30 November. If you need advice contact your DC.

Risk Assessments

We know how challenging creating Covid-19 risk assessments are for some Leaders. At the same time we know the positive impact some face to face Scouting can have on young people. You might be interested to know that before the recent national lock down across the UK there were only 73 reports of sections having to respond to a possible Covid-19 infection. In all cases the infection was imported into the Scout meeting and “test & trace” required no additional action because of the robust risk assessments in place. The system works in helping to keep people safe.
