County Explorer Belt Expedition 2021After careful consideration and consultation with DC’s it has been decided to postpone the planned County Explorer Belt Expedition to Iceland in 2021. The continued uncertainty around international travel, the restriction on face to face Scouting and the risk of buying flights that might have to be cancelled has left us with no alternative. Critical to this decision is the lack of opportunity to conduct fund raising and to take part in team building activities face to face. We know that this will be a massive disappointment to many of those who registered interest and the organising team are equally disappointed at the postponement. Obviously those who are 18 and over could decide to make their own arrangements to complete the explorer belt but please remember it will be subject to approval for Scouting to resume international travel that will reflect UK Government guidance. Moving forward discussions are continuing on when it will be possible to safely organise this trip to Iceland. Currently the favoured dates are in 2022, however it is becoming a busy year with Chamboree, the Moot in Ireland and we will have training taking place for the next world scout jamboree. Therefore it is likely to be late spring 2021 before a final decision is made. |
