New District Commissioner for Macclesfield & Congleton

Mike Brown has been appointed as District Commissioner for Macclesfield and Congleton from 1st March 2022.

Dave Hopley, County Commissioner said, “I am really excited by the appointment of Mike Brown as the new District Commissioner for Macclesfield and Congleton, who I am confident will do an amazing job in taking the District forward to an even brighter future. Mike brings a wealth of skills from his Scouting and professional life and is passionate about Scouting in Macclesfield and Congleton having been a member of the District for over 20 years”.

Mike works as a Director of Digital Operations at General Electric; responsible for daily IT systems operations and IT programmes across the global corporate business.

Mike began in Scouting as a Cub Scout, and joined adult volunteering in 1993 as an Assistant Scout Leader in Hinckley, Leicestershire. He moved to Macclesfield in 2001 and has subsequently served as a Scout Leader and Assistant District Commissioner (Scouts), Group Scout Leader at 6th Macclesfield, and more recently Local Training Manager for the Macclesfield and Congleton District.

Outside of Scouting, Mike enjoys his spare time with his wife and two children. His hobbies include archery and church bell-ringing.
