Getting back into the Great Outdoors at Cheshire Scouts Activity Centres

Cheshire Scout’s Forest Camp Activity Centre re-opened for day visitors on Sunday 8 May 2021 and as of 2 July 2021 are approved for Residential and Nights Away Activities, plus a range of self-led activities are now available! A huge amount of work has happened on-site, as well as to make it a COVID secure venue.  There are a couple of ways in which you can help us:

1. Our new Scout Active Support Unit

This is the opportunity for those who are prepared to support the Activity Centres on a regular basis who will become part of the core team of volunteers. This could be:

• Warden Teams – spend a weekend (or two, or three) helping to run one of the campsites and supporting young people camping for the weekend. Typically, you will need to available from Friday teatime to late Sunday afternoon.
• Retail Teams – help cover shifts in the campsite shops during the busy periods. Typically, these are morning, afternoons, early evening.
• Wednesday Workdays – If you are available on Wednesdays why not spend the day in the great outdoors. Join our team keeping Forest Camp looking its best. If you enjoy, painting, cleaning or gardening it’s a great opportunity to meet new people and make a real difference.
• Tatton Grounds Team – Our Task and Finish Team have been getting the grounds at Tatton looking their best. We’re now looking for a couple of people who would be prepared to cut the grass and strim on a weekly basis, May to Sept during the week when the site is not as busy.

2. Our Task & Finish Team

Our Task and Finish Team have been busy tackling some of the bigger jobs round the sites. Although the team have completed a lot of jobs over the last 12 months there is still plenty to do. If you are a competent DIY’er who enjoys making or repairing things why not come and join the Team. The tasks range from replacing fencing to fixing leaking taps, to building storage for equipment. We are looking for people to come and work with the team who are already working Saturday or Sunday most weekends.
